There's a verse in a book which is part of a collection of writings, letters and poems contained in the bible where the King of Israel has a realisation of why he was successful.
King David realises that he was successful for the sake of his people in Israel. So often in life, we strive to move towards our goals using the talents that we have been entrusted with, only to find that in some ways we use it for our own purposes.
I love how David knew that he was given skills and talents for the purposes of a nation. How often I have tried to manouvre my way up the corporate ladder or into certian circles for my own purposes. Most times its successful but for what? Only my own satisfaction.
Perhaps 2009 will help create a new passion in using my skills to help others. Perhaps i've been given skills and talents to help change a nation or without being to grande, to help make someone erlses day a little bit better.
